This morning I went to Allsups to get a cinnamon roll from breakfast. Since it was 6:30 am the store was crowded and I had to wait a few minutes before checking out. This gave me time to think about life here in West Texas, as opposed to life in New York. In New York, business people stand in line holding copies of the New York Times, while waiting for their Starbucks coffee and bagel. Here in Texas folks stand around in their work clothes stained from days past waiting for their ever famous Allsups Breakfast Burrito or perhaps a chimia-changa At Starbucks one has the choice of many different types of coffee. Allsups has Folgers, and an automatic coffee machine. .

Is there a stark contrast between the Allsups crowd and the Starbucks crowd? From the outside perspective there is, the world view would be that of “Starbucks is better.” However, there is more to a person then where he or she gets their breakfast and coffee (I am not a regular coffee drinker and usually skip this). Most people at either location are going to work, and they have a family that they care for and are working hard to support. If you are fast or quick to pass judgment or assumptions about people based on their morning coffee stop, then you will miss the opportunity to meet and get to know some great people, after all, I go to Allsups sometimes in the morning.
